He is coming off of an All-Big Ten honorable mention year in 2018, and is an absolute physical specimen.A recent mock 2020 NFL Draft by CBS Sports had Wirfs going in the top 10. It is a bold prediction, but not an unreasonable one if Wirfs’ production continues to tick upwards. If those NFL dreams don’t come to pass, though, Wirfs is going to be okay. He has a pretty good plan for after football ends, whenever that is.Tristan Wirfs was the subject of a recent profile by Hawk Central, and discussed his plan to become an elementary school teacher.Wirfs, who is described as a gentle giant, loves working with kids, and plans to eventually teach physical education. From Hawk Central:“I want to be an elementary school physical education teacher,” Wirfs proclaimed in an interview with the Des Moines Register last month.“I’ve always loved kids. I’ve always been very good with kids.”[…]Wirfs latched on to his idea at Mount Vernon High School, when an assignment included a stint helping out with the elementary school gym class. He hadn’t thought about what job he might do as an adult until then.“I just had a blast over there,” Wirfs said. “If I can do anything working with kids, that would be perfect.”It sounds like he’s going to have a pit-stop in the NFL first, if his junior season goes according to plan, but it is pretty cool to see that he has things pretty well figured out beyond that. The full piece gives a really good background on what Wirfs is all about. He’s an easy guy to root for for Hawkeye fans.[Hawk Central]last_img
