first_img 11 Centre-back: Jamal Lascelles (Newcastle United) – The former Nottingham Forest man had a fine display in defence, including one goal-line stop from Tammy Abraham, and then he popped up with the winning strike too. Central midfield: Abdoulaye Doucoure (Watford) – The rangy Hornets star is forming a fine partnership with Nathaniel Chalobah and topped off a decent display with a goal against Southampton. A lot of play went through the Frenchman and he looks like being a key figure under Marco Silva. 11 11 Forward: Danny Welbeck (Arsenal) – Goals don’t usually come easily for the Gunners star, more famed for his hard work off the ball, but he notched two at the weekend and assisted new team-mate Alexandre Lacazette. Right wing-back: Kyle Walker (Manchester City) – It hadn’t been the start to life under Pep Guardiola the £45m man may have imagined, but he looked much-improved against Liverpool. A threat throughout, he’s beginning to adjust. 11 Left wing-back: Benjamin Mendy (Manchester City) – The signing from Monaco is a relentless force down the left flank and only just getting up to speed with his own team-mates. If he had been more controlled in the final third he might have had more than one assist. Goalkeeper: Nick Pope (Burnley) – Click the right arrow above to find out who else made talkSPORT’s team of the weekend… – Coming in for Tom Heaton during the first-half, the Clarets’ No.2 proved himself to be more than able at top-flight level with a clean sheet and some impressive moments in a high-pressure game. Another weekend in the Premier League, and another set of intriguing results as the division shakes down.Manchester United’s winning run was halted by Stoke, Manchester City thrashed ten-man Liverpool, and Tottenham trounced Everton.Elsewhere, Chelsea quietly got another victory, along with Arsenal, and Brighton and Hove Albion got their first ever Premier League win too.But which individuals put in the finest shift of the lot for their team?Scroll through the gallery above to take a look at talkSPORT.com’s Premier League team of the weekend… 11 Centre-back: Davinson Sanchez (Tottenham Hotspur) – A young defender with a big price to justify, the Colombian look comfortable in a back-three between Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen. Confident drifting out to the left and right, using his pace to reach runners, it was an extremely promising display. 11 Forward: Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (Stoke City) – Last year, the Cameroon international managed just three Bundesliga goals. He got two in one game at the weekend and against Manchester United, no less. Choupo-Moting looks like doing well for the Potters this year. 11 Central midfield: Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) – After a barren start to the campaign, the Belgian put on a show against Liverpool with two assists and a superb showing against the Reds. 11 11 11 Centre-back: James Tarkowski (Burnley) – A brilliant defensive showing saw the centre-back make 18 clearances, the most by a Premier League player since December. Combine that with five aerial duels won and four blocks made, and you have an excellent performance. Central midfield: Pascal Gross (Brighton) – Signed from Ingolstadt in the summer, Gross could prove to be the pound-for-pound signing of the summer if he carries on like this. He was the match-winner for Chris Hughton’s men against West Brom, netting twice and assisting Tomer Hemed. 11last_img
