UWF Baseball Picked to Finish Second, Two Named Preseason All-GSC

Estrada batted a team leading .374 with five doubles and three home runs, and ended the year with an OBP of .465. GSC PRESEASON POLLPENSACOLA, Fla. – Daniel Floyd and Matthew Estrada were selected to the preseason All-GSC Team, and UWF baseball was picked to finish second in the preseason poll voted on by the conference coaches. Ryan Brewer and Miller Hancock were named to the conference’s Top Newcomers list. 2019 GSC champion Delta State topped the preseason conference poll with 130 total points and four first-place votes. The Argos came in second with 127 total points and received five first place votes in the poll. Mississippi College finished third with 123 points and three first place votes. Valdosta State and Alabama Huntsville rounded out the top five, with the Blazers picking up one first place vote. Floyd will be a key part of the Argos’ pitching staff this season after earning First Team All-GSC in 2019. The righty enjoyed an excellent first year at UWF, finishing with a 7-1 record and a 3.91 ERA across 22 appearances and six starts. He accumulated a total of 65 strikeouts in 69.0 innings and allowing an opponent batting average of just .233. The University of West Florida baseball team’s 2020 schedule features a 48-game slate, including 26 home games at Jim Spooner Field. West Florida will play a total of 18 non-conference games in addition to its 30-game GSC schedule.
